MathPlay

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 1 October 2026

Privacy, in plain language

MathPlay lets children explore maths without creating an account. Calculations and learning activities run on the device. We use Plausible on our download page to understand visits and download-button clicks.

1. What this policy covers

This policy covers MathPlay at mathplaykids.com, its installable web app and the MathPlay Android app distributed through this website. It explains the learning experience and the separate download page at /get/. It does not cover independent services you visit through external links.

2. Learning activities and children’s privacy

MathPlay is designed for children and families. The learning experience does not require registration, a child’s name, email address, date of birth or a profile. Numbers, answers and activity calculations are processed on the device and are not sent to Plausible. By default, the new mission garden lasts only for the open page. If a parent enables garden saving, MathPlay sends completed-mission reward identifiers and stores a flower count, as explained below. It does not upload the answers entered in exercises.

MathPlay does not include behavioural advertising, social messaging or a public profile. We do not use learning answers to create advertising profiles. Parents and guardians should supervise app downloads and visits to external websites. Please do not enter personal information into maths exercises.

3. Information stored on your device

These features do not create a MathPlay account. You can remove this stored information using your browser’s “clear site data” controls. On Android, you can also clear app storage. If the app opens content through a browser, you may need to clear mathplaykids.com data in that browser separately. Clearing offline files may require another internet connection before the app works offline again.

Voice explanations and suggestions

The Listen button uses installed offline voices supplied by your device. MathPlay selects only voices that the browser reports as local. If no matching offline voice is available, the app keeps the written explanation instead. MathPlay does not access your microphone or record speech.

The “Have an idea for MathPlay?” form is intended for parents and adults. It stores the suggestion text, its category, the selected language, a random submission identifier and the submission time in our private database for reviewing ideas and improving the app. Suggestions are not displayed publicly. Please do not include names, ages, contact details or other personal information, particularly information about children. The form requires no email address and does not offer individual replies. A failed request keeps the text on the open page so you can retry.

4. Analytics on the download page

We use Plausible Analytics on /get/ to measure visits, engagement and clicks on the MathPlay APK download links. A click is not proof that a download finished or the app was installed. Plausible is not included in our calculator and learning pages.

Analytics can include page paths, referral and campaign information, approximate location, browser, operating system, device type, engagement and download events. Plausible processes IP addresses and browser information to derive statistics and a site-specific daily identifier, without retaining raw IP addresses or raw user-agent strings. It does not use analytics cookies or persistent visitor identifiers. It stores event and session records and presents aggregated reports to us. Plausible states that its visitor data is processed and stored in the EU.

Read Plausible’s data policy for details. You can use MathPlay’s learning pages without visiting /get/. Browser or network privacy tools may also block analytics.

5. Website delivery and security

When you connect to the website or download the APK, our hosting and network providers necessarily process connection information such as your IP address, requested address, browser information and request time to deliver files and protect the service. They may maintain operational and security logs. This is separate from the learning data processed on your device.

We use HTTPS for website delivery. No internet service or device can be guaranteed completely secure.

6. How information is used and shared

Information is used to provide MathPlay, remember preferences and optionally saved gardens, review adult suggestions, maintain security and understand the performance of the download page. We do not sell personal information or share children’s learning activity with advertisers. Service providers process the information necessary for hosting, database storage, security and the analytics described above. Information may also be disclosed where required by applicable law.

Where data protection law applies to personal information processed for delivery, security or service measurement, we rely on the applicable lawful basis, including legitimate interests in operating and protecting the service where appropriate. If a future feature requires consent, we will request it before using that feature for the relevant processing.

7. Retention and your choices

Language preferences and cached files remain on the device until cleared, replaced or removed by the browser or app. Temporary lesson state is removed when restored or when the browser session ends. We do not maintain a named account or a history of exercise answers. An optional saved garden and adult suggestions are the limited server-side records described above. Saved gardens can be deleted from the garden controls on the device that enabled them. Garden saving needs an internet connection; an unsaved reward stays only in the open page until successfully saved, so closing that page can lose it. Suggestions are retained for review and improvement and removed when no longer needed.

Analytics records are retained according to our Plausible account’s retention settings and service terms. Hosting logs follow the relevant provider’s operational and security retention rules. We do not promise a specific retention period that those services have not established.

Depending on your location and the information involved, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict personal data, object to processing, withdraw consent where used, or complain to your local data protection authority. Because MathPlay has no user accounts and analytics does not identify visitors by name or email, we may not be able to associate an analytics record with a particular person. Please do not send a child’s personal details to identify a maths exercise.

8. External services and changes

Your browser, Android operating system and any app store you use have their own privacy practices. External links are governed by the destination’s policies. If MathPlay introduces new accounts, advertising or other data uses, we will update this policy and provide any notice or consent required before the new processing begins. The date above identifies the latest revision.
